Standing Together for Our Parks: A Path Forward

Dear Park Supporters,

Last night was a powerful testament to our community’s commitment to our parks. While we faced some challenging moments at the Board meeting, the message from the public was louder than ever: We are here, we are watching, and we are united.

A Wave of Unity

The most striking moment of the evening was when nearly half of the audience stood up and walked out together in a peaceful, unified show of solidarity. This collective action sent a clear message that we expect transparency and respect for the public’s voice.

While it was disappointing to see the Board President cut off public comments and bypass the opportunity to vet new legal counsel, these moments only highlight why our advocacy is so vital. We are currently seeking formal clarity on public comment policies to ensure every resident’s right to be heard is protected in the future.

Celebrating Progress

On a very positive note, the Board officially approved architectural services for Phase 1 of the Maintenance Garage project! This is a much-needed win for the infrastructure of our parks and a step in the right direction for our community’s assets.

Looking Ahead: The Road to 2027

We aren’t just reacting to last night; we are planning for a brighter future. Our focus is now on the 2027 elections, where we have the opportunity to bring fresh, balanced leadership to the Board.

• Make Your Voice Heard: The Board President has suggested the public is there only to "watch," but we know our community is the heart of the parks. Please email the Board (Tiesenga, Heisler, Hickey, and Nisenson) to respectfully share your vision for more transparent leadership.
